01 ♥ [video]
[So here is Ray, sitting on a bed in the Rocket HQ--for those who have seen it, otherwise it looks like just a bedroom--with a crying Cubone. For those also in the base, her door's open because like hell she's going to keep herself locked up while being this confused. But for now, the pokémon. She's bouncing it in her arms, but it really isn't working seeing as this little thing is certainly too confused and upset to quiet down. But of course, Ray can multitask. Seeing as the Cubone's volume is a little too high to be heard, she just holds up a finger and ends the feed.
Not even a moment later, she's back, and while the crying is still there, it's quieter. She's standing, with the Cubone on the bed behind her, her hand gently patting its back as it sobs into her pillow.]
Alright, I'm not sure who gave me a crying dinosaur but how long am I supposed to babysit him? I've actually got plans, so whoever drugged my coffee and brought me here, I'm going to need to take a raincheck.
I actually need to find my husband right now. His name is Charles Beams. He's tall, mussy brown hair, really broad shoulders and he usually never buttons his shirts all the way. [She giggles a little, but soon turns away and frowns a little at the Gear.] Oh, I hope he's alright. I doubt we've been apart for long but... I do need to find him. Well, if anyone does hear from him, please tell him that Ray--[and with this, she points to herself]--is trying to find him.
But in the meantime, does anyone know how to quiet this precious little thing? Who does he belong to?

He'll keep the reply locked, as they might start talking about Team Rocket sooner or later - so it's a safety measure.]
That's a Pokémon, madam. You're supposed to take care of it in this world, since it will be your partner.
video - locked;
Is... he a pet?
video - locked;
video - locked;
Are they meant to be trained or just simple pets? And what is our reason for being summoned here?
video - locked;
As for why we're here. I suppose it's just for that purpose... if you started in the normal place, that is.
video - locked;
The normal place? Where would that be? And does that mean where I've arrived isn't the normal place?
video - locked;
You should have received a letter, if that is the case.
video - locked;
[She was so distracted by the crying Cubone that she hadn't really checked anything else out. Once she finds it, she quickly opens and reads it, then turns back to the gear.]
Team... Rocket? Creative.
video - locked;
It's a ridiculous name, but a bad organization. You could say that we're the villains of this story.
video - locked;
[She stares at the letter again, rereading it once or twice before glancing back at the gear.]
Out of one hell and into another, it seems... So, what's the task for this group? Lying, cheating, and killing?
video - locked;
Well, I can see the lying and cheating part... but so far most of the tasks include stealing Pokémon. [He thinks for a while, before adding.] And someone blew up a lighthouse, so I wouldn't completely cancel out the killing part.
video - locked;
Hopefully there's some sort of payment involved. I don't do this sort of work for free, they ought to know.
video - locked;
We do get paid once a week. Though if you don't steal Pokémon often enough that might change.
video - locked;
With a soft sigh, she just shakes her head, offering a small smile.]
Thank you for telling me all of this, young man. You're a real gem.
video - locked;
You seem awfully calm about all of this.
video - locked;
Well, panicking isn't my style, and so long as I can find Charles, I don't mind having to stay here for a while. This Team Rocket business is a little tricky, but... it's not like its the first time I've had to deal with tricky business.
video - locked;
I hope you find your husband here, madam. Many people haven't found those they care about in this world, but there have been those who are lucky.
video - locked;
[She looks away again, but only a second passes before she perks up again.]
Oh honey, mind if I get your name? You've been a lifesaver, I should be able to thank you properly.

...all right, that isn't to say that some of the things people like this could do weren't fun, obviously, but that's really beside the point. Have a video, Ray.]
Well, my dear, I'm afraid that the creature you're looking at is, regrettably, probably yours. This place rather enjoys handing out little bundles of frustration like that, it seems...and as you sound like a new arrival, I'll tell you now that if you woke up with that thing in your possession somehow, as far as this place is concerned it's actually in your possession in every sense of the word. I've raised one of that species myself; either coddle it or beat it into submission, darling, the results are more or less the same.
That is to say, more crying.
no subject
[A proper mother... That's already giving Ray a horrible idea.]
So he cries a lot? You've had one of his type before?
text;
The Pokémon though, he does know and it's one of his favorites, so he definitely knows how to handle one.]
That is a Cubone, a species of Pokémon that's known to cry at the moon and use bones as an armor and weapon. He- or she- has lost his mother. Let him cry it out, and he will be fine.
As he's with you, he belongs to you now.
text;
text;
text;
I guess that leaves me with no choice, then.
text;
text;
He will just be my second son.
text;
Good luck, ma'am. I'm sure a mother can care for a Cubone the best.

Ray!
5/5 ... I think that's good.
When did you get here?
I've never seen a Pokemon like that before, but I'm sure if anyone could get it to stop crying, you could.
video; hello, honey
I've only been here for an hour or two. Once I get him to quiet down a little more, I'll try to answer those other questions for you.
Where are you, baby?
video; hello, hello
I'm about two weeks' travel from you, I think.
[ Because everyone starts out in the same place, right? ]
video; ♥
[She has to bite back a giggle. Mindhiving over here.]
Two weeks away? Oh no... Ah, let me figure out which city this is.
video;
New Bark Town, right?
Pretty sure that's where everyone spawns in this place.
[ He's got this. Such a good hubby. ]
video;
New Bark Town...? Well, I'm not sure, but that might be it... Give me a moment, I'll ask someone in the area.
video;
The lady that insists she's your mother and that professor probably won't be much help.
video;
[And the camera's moving. She's picking up the Cubone and holding him against her shoulder, like a behbeh, and heads out of the room. It's dark, almost too dark to make out her surroundings except that she's in a hallway.]
Hn... It's rather quiet in here.
video;
[ .... ]
Have you gone downstairs yet?
video;
video;
[ .... Dammit, Ray. Don't go running around by yourself in the dark. He hasn't seen you in a long time and this is what he gets?
Thankfully, he's done packing now. And he's totally heading out. The sooner he starts this journey the faster he'll get to her ]
video;
Charles? I'm in Goldenrod.
video;
.... Goldenrod? Are you sure?
video;
Honey, you said you're here, right? We're in the same city, aren't we? Where are you?
video;
By the gates... the Northern ones.
